TEMPLES OF DESIRE

Raw and unabashed, exuding vibrancy and sensuality, this new collection explores loosing ourselves in the moment and celebrates our beautiful uncensored desire. Each painting is infused with synthetic Oxytocin, the neurohormone connected to love and connection.

Surrounded by delicious darkness and engulfed in coloured light, we see a tantalising, visceral, electric entanglement of oil paint, connection and magnetised flesh. Creating the contrast between darkness and luminescence through chiaroscuro - a technique used by artists including Caravaggio - and inspiration from sculptors Bernini and Rodin,  Emma uses light as an allegory for energy as we move into the next Renaissance. These paintings sit at the intersection of outdated past doctrines and crackles of future where taboo and censorship no longer hold place and liberty and freedom-of-spirit hold sovereignty.

With passion and paint pumping in her veins the 21Century classicist explains  ‘you know those little shoots of electricity that run up your back and make all the little hairs stand on end? It’s those moments we are fully present,  we are creative, inspired, energised and incredible, we commune with the gods of the old and ascend to future worlds.  Desire should be celebrated in its raw, hot, (difficult?), glory - the ultimate irresistible human expression.  I wish to push the boundaries and not shy away from the divinity of our true being and the pure magic of being alive.’ -elp
